Arlington, VA – The Virginia Education Association (VEA) Fund for Children and Public Education endorsed state Senator Barbara Favola (D – Arlington) for her upcoming election in the 31st District. The VEA cited Favola’s “commitment to public education and children” as a reason for their support. The VEA issued the endorsement after local affiliates recommended Sen. Favola.

Kimberly Adams, Fairfax Education Association: “Senator Favola has demonstrated her commitment to Virginia’s schools by working to protect children in public schools, limit class size, and provide support for early childhood programs. I strongly support her reelection campaign. ”

Senator Favola responded to the support: “Funding education is the best investment the Commonwealth can make. We have an obligation to provide affordable, high quality and accessible educational opportunities to all Virginians. I am grateful for the endorsement of the VEA and will continue to fight for Virginia’s future by working to improve its education system.”

This year, Senator Favola patroned several education-related bills: limiting the use of seclusion and restraint in public schools, addressing sexual assault on college campuses, and studying the importance of early childhood education.

Senator Barbara A. Favola represents Virginia’s 31st district, which includes parts of Arlington and Fairfax counties, and a portion of Loudoun County. For the 2015 session, Senator Favola served on the Local Government, Rehabilitation and Social Services, and Transportation Committees.
