"The recent location of a gun shop on Chain Bridge Road in McLean, near the back door of Franklin Elementary School, is the wrong location for such a retail activity. As the members of the General Assembly and local representatives representing McLean, we will work to ensure that local governments have the authority to grant or deny permits for gun shop sales based on certain conditions, such as proximity to a school. Citizens expect their leaders to create safe and healthy communities, especially when the well-being of our children is at stake."
