Virginians Voting in Primary Elections

VIRGINIA VOTERS go to the polls Tuesday in primary contests to select candidates in a smattering of races for the state Senate, House of Delegates, county Boards of Supervisors, Commonwealth’s Attorneys and county sheriffs. The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In the Democratic primary in the 31st Senate District, which comprises much of Arlington and a strip of Fairfax County along the Potomac including Great Falls and part of McLean, as well as the northeastern corner of Loudoun County, we endorsed Barbara A. Favola , a smart, substantive and honest member of the Arlington County Board with broad experience on local issues. She is particularly well versed on higher education, having lobbied in Richmond on behalf of Marymount College.

The winner of the primary will face Republican Caren Merrick, a high-tech entrepreneur, in November.
