Women's Reproductive Health Caucus: Statement on Bill Banning Abortions

In solidarity with NARAL, Planned Parenthood, Progress VA and other stakeholders, the Women’s Reproductive Health Caucus strongly opposes HB 2321. HB 2321 would ban abortions after 20 weeks, regardless of whether the pregnancy is the product of rape or incest. This bill violates the rights of women and represents an inappropriate interference with a woman’s healthcare decisions. HB2321 is even more radical than a similar Congressional bill that was just defeated by a coalition of Republican women lawmaker for being too extreme. HB2321 is radical and we will work with our partners to make sure it does not become law.

Senator Barbara Favola, co-chair

Delegate Kay Kory, co-chair

The Women's Reproductive Health Caucus meets every Wednesday at 8 a.m. in Senate Conference Room 3 East, General Assembly Building. Caucus members include lawmakers from both the House and Senate, as well as relevant stakeholders: Planned Parenthood, NARAL Pro-Choice, Progress VA, JCDC, ACLU, and the League of Women Voters.
