Budget Amendments to be heard in Senate and House on Thursday, February 20th.
This Thursday, February 20th, the proposed budget amendments will be heard in both the Senate and House respectively. Several of my budget amendments have been approved and included in the Senate Finance Committee.
My proposed budget includes increases in funds for:
Education: A restoration of the full 24.61% cost-of-competing adjustment for school support positions, increase in per pupil amount for the Virginia Preschool Initiative for At-Risk Four-Year-Olds, and provides funding for six to eight teams of high school teachers.
Health and Human Resources: To provide an annual cost-of-living increase to individuals receiving cash assistance from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). An increase in funds to expand services provided by community action agencies including but not limited to child care, community and economic development, education, employment, health and nutrition, housing, and transportation.
Natural Resources: An amendment that would cover Virginia's dues to participate in the Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin.
Public Safety: Provides funds for one qualified mental health professional for each of the 32 juvenile court services units.
